The Cab rides on air

The Cab rides on air

Great news!!!

We all know how the cab likes to do 1.5 60' launches on the bump stops, shred tyres & snap axles.

I think we have found a solution.

Enter the Airbag Man. www.airbagman.com.au

Brett the Airbag man himself has very kindly donated a full rear air suspension kit for us to test on The Cab during our private day.

The Kit will be delivered in the next few days, then i will fit it with the usual full pictorial write up on V8Owners.

I am fairly confident this will fix our woes & put us into the 1.4 60' launch territory.

Can't Wait

results should be interesting, i dont know many cars that have used airbag suspension at the strip. i guess anything that stops axles snapping and nets a better 60ft is well worth it IMO

Juzzy formerly G&D Bolt on record holder ran with airbags in the rear (Red VX ute)

So did Dee Jay at the LS1 nats this year - see pics of his car on launch and the rear wheels never disappeared up the guards even though the front end was right up there.

Both these cars are M6

So what would give a normal ride height, fully deflated, half inflated ??? Must be some seriously strong material ... rubber I assume ???

Can you actually drive with it fully deflated or is that purely for when you want the car sitting an inch off the ground for appearances ???

Sorry if these are stoopid questions ... I have heard of airbag suspension but know absolutely nothing about it !!!

These "drag bags" are very popular with US Gto owners who are serious about drag racing their cars.

Hopefully no more busted axles for the cab!

Talking

We had a set similar to these on our Landcruiser, great for towing.

I reckon run the cab with them fully inflated. It would make for a great photo.

Go for the jacked up Latino low rider look, it may crack one of those wheel stands like Cackling pipes photographs at WSID.

Drag Bags aren't quite the same mate. Drag Bags are whats in the back end of my wagon, the coils are retained and the bag goes inside.

And IMHO opinion for those of us not sponsored with free stuff the Drag Bag is probably a better option. Allows you to have normal suspension day to day, and hard as a rock for the 1/4 or towing or just that little bit of bogan rake if you want to do blockies

I have thought seriously about it as having lowered suspension looks great but bites big ones when you need to get fuel and go shopping at Westfiled type places that seem to almost have tank trap like speed bumps

But the reason that I have not gone that way is I know F all about them and wonder if or how they effect track handling.

Pete I look forward to the write up and pics

I wonder what their lifespan will be- compressed air into rubber may only last a few years but we'll find out with the write up what the life expectancy is I'm sure

VERY interested in your results Peter, as I did'nt think they'd be any good at the track.(but I've always wanted bags )
Do you know if you actually do or do not retain the rear springs?

Drag bags, Poly Bags, Air coil assists are pretty much the same. Diff manufacturers and colours.

This link has some photos of what they look like installed.
http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=642

www.airbagman.com.au sells them in Aust.

TBA, the cab doesnt have rear springs any more...
