From my limited knowledge of engine dyno's (have had a lil play at tafe), if i recall correctly the small sensors are your egt sensors (thermocouple's) they are placed in the exhaust streem of each primary pipe to measure the exhaust gas tempreture,
now the tempreture reading that you get gives you a accurate way of measuring lean or rich condition in that cyl (i think lean is hotter and rich is cooler from memory)... by gathering all that info what you do is try and get all the cylnders the same, you really shouldnt have too much variation.
a engine that has them all the same shows very good cylinder distribution (usually from good intake runner design, heads etc).

the other sensors on the exhaust (the bigger one) will be the lambda sensors and they will read how much oxygen is in the exhaust (im pretty sure), and will give a reading of a certain number, with lambda (shown as 1 on a lambda gauge) or on a air fuel gauge as 14.7 which is supposed to be perfect combustion mixture. (anyone who has a better idea of this feel free to add to this i dont know heaps about this, all of this is just info ive gathered from being in the auto industry and what ive remebered)

now once again there is a sensor in each primary pipe to show the mixture as a ratio in each cylinder, at a guess id say this is to give a quicker reading than the egt sensor to aid in tuning so it can be logged and made changes as you go along... i hope this info is helpfull and i more hope im right with it, like i said anyone else who might know some more please add...
cheers steve

You are correct Steve.
With what you have said.

Foot note:

In order to get the headers to glow Sam safely leaned out the motor. Then the lights were switched off & the photo was taken without flash on a 20 second exposure.

This photo is a reject photo, if you want to see the good ones you will have to buy street commodores magazine. I obviously cant publish any of their photos until after the magazine has been released

Nice figures there indeed.

I hope there's enough $$$ left in the kitty for a cage? Looking at what is being presented in this thread I sense it may be needed very shortly
(ie the 17th of Sept 2006) .

No point doing all this work only to go and run 3/4 passes.
You've made it go, now go for it.
